Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu instructed the officials to monitor the Fertiliser Supply in Andhra Pradesh and prevent shortages, particularly in the cooperative societies and Markfed depots.
In a teleconference with the district Collectors and agriculture officials on Tuesday, August 5, he assured farmers that the government will ensure uninterrupted fertiliser supply throughout the kharif season.
“No farmer should face inconvenience in accessing fertilisers, and officials should monitor every cooperative society and ensure supplies are being distributed fairly,” he stated.
In addition, he considered media reports of urea shortage in certain areas and sought a detailed report on them and asserted the government had secured a higher quantity of fertilisers through proactive coordination with the Agriculture Ministry.
Fertiliser dealers warned in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister rejected reports of urea shortage as false propaganda by the YSRCP. Furthermore, he said 15.94 LMT of fertilisers had already been made available, 8.91 LMT sold and 7.03 LMT in stock. Moreover, he issued the warning stating that “any dealer creating artificial scarcity, or selling above MRP, will face strict action”. “The government is also introducing nano urea and nano DAP in AP, which could fulfil 25% of nutrient requirements,” the minister said. Additionally, he referred to efforts made by the government to expedite allocations from the Centre, saying that a fresh supply of 4.58 LMT for August had been sanctioned.
