Andhra Pradesh has bagged the prestigious ‘Best State Award’ under the Central Silk Board’s ‘Mera Resham – Mera Abhiman’ programme for its outstanding and commendable efforts in promoting sericulture and supporting silk farmers and silk reelers. Andhra Pradesh was honoured during the 76th Central Silk Board Foundation Day celebrations in Bengaluru. The award ceremony held in Bengaluru recognises the State’s success in raising awareness and implementing development initiatives for the sericulture sector.
Andhra Pradesh Bagged ‘Best State Award’ Followed by Best Tableau Award
‘Best State Award’ for sericulture was presented during the 76th Central Silk Board Foundation Day celebrations held in Bengaluru, honouring the state for its outstanding efforts in promoting silk farmers. The award was presented by Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Padmini Singla, Member-Secretary of Central Silk Board Shivakumar, and Member of Parliament from Anantapur and Member of Central Silk Board Ambika Lakshminarayana. The felicitation program was organized in collaboration with the Central Silk Board scientists and district-level sericulture officials. The awareness activities were organised in Sri Sathya Sai, Chittoor, Annamayya, Anantapur, Prakasam and Kakinada districts, which in turn contributed to increased cocoon production by farmers and motivated new farmers to take up mulberry cultivation. The department also won the Best Tableau Award during Independence Day celebrations in 2025. Receiving the ‘Best State Award’ for sericulture followed by the Best Tableau Award on Independence day depicts the state’s dedication and efforts in promoting cultural heritage of nation.
