Amit Shah Inaugurates India’s First Cooperative Multi-Feed CBG Plant in Maharashtra, Govt to Back 15 Sugar Mills

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated India’s first cooperative multi-feed CBG plant (Compressed Biogas) in Kopargaon, Ahilyanagar district, Maharashtra. The inaugural event was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, and Union Minister of State for Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol, among other dignitaries.

India’s first cooperative multi-feed CBG plant established at Maharashtra’s Ahilyanagar district marks a historic first in India’s cooperative sugar sector. At the inaugural event Mr. Shah stated that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi the centre will extend full support to 15 sugar mills through the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC). It will further help in sustainable model for future sugar mills.

Highlighting the central government’s commitment to farmers, Amit Shah stated that the Union cabinet recently launched the mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, with a total projected  investment of 113.4 billion in 6 years in an attempt to make India self-reliant in pulse production. Further he also stressed on the benefits of registering with NAFED and NCCF, where farmers producing arhar, urad, and masoor will have their entire output procured at 100 per cent of the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The initiative will benefit around 20 million farmers, establish 1,000 processing units, and distribute 3.8 million high-quality seed kits nationwide. He added that MSP rates have been increased by Rs 300 per quintal for masoor, Rs 250 for mustard, Rs 225 for gram, Rs 175 for barley, and Rs 160 for wheat. Over the past 11 years, MSPs have risen significantly-2.5 times for jowar and bajra, and doubled for tur, moong, soybean, and cotton.

Amit Shah on GST Reforms

While addressing the gathering, Amit shah also said that new GST reforms, GST 2.0 is a big relief for farmers. He further added that GST reforms have brought down rates to 5% on tractors, harvesters, irrigation systems, poultry, beekeeping machinery, and organic pesticides.

The event was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Union MoS for Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol and other senior leaders.
