The Kota police have seized 7 rice bags containing 274 kg of rice under the Anna Bhagya scheme at Padukere, Manuru village. The Anna Bhagya rice was being illegally transported in an auto rickshaw. This is not the first time news related to PDS rice diversion has gained attention, few earlier news also as released by different media sources reported diversion of PDS rice to an illegal place.
Anna Bhagya Scheme Rice Being Illegally Transported in Manuru Village
Anna Bhagya scam came into light when the complainant, food inspector of Brahmavar V Vasanth Kumar acted on the information of illegal transportation of Anna Bhagya rice without any license in an auto rickshaw. During the raid, it was confirmed that priority and Antyodaya ration rice under the Anna Bhagya scheme, meant for cardholders, was being transported. A total of 274.3kg of rice stored in seven bags was seized from the rickshaw, as a part of Anna Bhagya scam, police said.
Based on the complaint of Seized government rice action was initiated against the accused Rajesh, a resident of Kotatattu village, Brahmavar, and against the vehicle. In this connection, a case was registered at Kota police station under Sections 3, 5, 6(A), and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, and Sections 3(2) and 18(1) of the Karnataka Essential Commodities (Public Distribution System) Public Control Order, 2016.
