Union Agri Minister Chouhan Launches Saras Aajeevika Food Festival 2025, Promotes Women’s Economic Empowerment

On Tuesday, December 2, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the Saras Aajeevika Food Festival 2025 at Sunder Nursery in New Delhi. Chouhan mentioned the Lakhpati Didis from Self-Help Groups have exemplified that women’s economic empowerment can generate progress. He said that women from 25 states have come to the national capital to illustrate their skills and products. The event was graced by the presence of Union Women and Child Development Minister Annpurna Devi.

Apart from inaugurating Saras Aajeevika Food, Chouhan stressed the initiatives for women’s development

Chouhan highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed the initiatives for women’s development and that the Rural Development Ministry is working to improve livelihood opportunities for women. He stated women should not remain dependent and should be encouraged to become self-reliant through their skills and hard work.

The minister said the festival of Saras Aajeevika Food showcases a wide range of regional cuisines carrying the hue of different regional cultures, outlining India’s diversity. He encouraged the public to visit the event and support products made by women from Self-Help Groups.

The festival aims to offer market access to Rural women

Organised under the National Rural Livelihood Mission, the Saras Aajeevika Food Festival intends to provide market access and visibility to rural women, especially Lakhpati Didis. The event aims to promote financial independence, entrepreneurship and women-led livelihood models. Women from 25 states have participated in the festival, providing around 500 traditional dishes in the 62 stalls. Moreover, Visitors can have dishes such as Himachali Seeddu, Tandoori Chai from Uttarakhand, Kalari Kulcha from Jammu and Kashmir, Hyderabadi Biryani, North Eastern Momos, Bengali Fried Fish, Rajasthani Kair Sagari, Malabar Biryani, Litti-Chokha from Bihar, and Sarson Ka Saag with Makki Roti from Punjab.

Additionally, exhibits featuring natural and rural products have also been set up, allowing visitors to learn about rural livelihoods and traditional crafts.
