Tanzania’s Price Transformation Boosts Avocado Popularity in India

Avocado Popularity in India is undergoing a massive transformation which can be largely attributed to duty-free status of Tanzania’s avocado. Avocado from Tanzania, which is famous for its high-quality, competitive pricing, and logistical advantages, has its traditional origins from Peru, Chile, Kenya, and New Zealand. Quicker transit times and duty-free access of Tanzania’s avocado has completely shifted the dynamics in the favour of Tanzania.

Hanissh Battra, CEO of fresh fruit importer Ever Green Fruits said that Avocados from Tanzania are now easily available in terms of shipping times, avocados now reach within just 12 to 14 days in comparison to the 25-30 days for fruit shipped from Latin America or Oceania. This logistics advancement brings fresher fruit at notably lower costs to importers end buyers, with improvements in availability too.

Unlike in the past, now Indian importers don’t have to juggle between origins and can rely on a single source for avocados. Owing to their consistency, Tanzanians orchards are well-positioned, and their harvest seasons also aligns well with India’s growing demand. The CEO of fresh fruit importer Ever Green Fruits explained the condition of easy availability of avocados, he added that with huge arrivals of avocados their prices have dropped significantly compared to previous years when supply was limited and dependent on duty-paying origins. The price correction or to simply say duty-free availability of avocado has made Tanzanian avocados easily available with premium taste.
