Himachal Floods: PM Modi Announces ₹1500 Crore Relief For Affected Farmers And Villagers

As Himachal Pradesh is witnessing recent floods, heavy rains and landslides, PM Narendra Modi has announced major relief for the farmers and villagers of the state, saying that the central government, along with the state government, will provide every possible help to the affected families in this difficult time. PM Modi visited the flood-affected areas of Himachal Pradesh and interacted with the affected people in the state.

Focus on farmers and villagers amid Himachal floods

The Prime Minister announced that special assistance will be given to farmers and rural families on a priority basis. Affected Farmers in floods who do not have an electricity connection right now will receive additional help. Additionally, mini kits will be made available for livestock farmers, so their losses can be reduced. Geo-tagging will be carried out under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to rebuild damaged houses, so that the damage can be assessed correctly and immediate relief can be provided. Apart from this, the affected schools will also be geo-tagged and helped under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, to ensure that the education of children is not disrupted.

Assistance of Rs 1500 crore and several other announcements

The PM Modi announced a relief package of ₹ 1500 crore. Under this package, the second instalment of SDRF will be given to the state in advance amid the Himachal floods and the amount of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi will also be released immediately. On a related note, an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh will be given to the families of the deceased, and the seriously injured will be given assistance of ₹50,000. Emphasis will be placed on rebuilding houses, schools and roads in the affected areas. Moreover, National highways and water structures will be restored on priority.And Water harvesting structures will be built in areas facing water shortage, so that the groundwater level can improve.

Interaction with affected families

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Himachal Pradesh to review the situation of disastrous floods. He first took stock of the situation by conducting an aerial survey and then held a meeting with officials in Kangra. Relief and rehabilitation work was reviewed in the meeting. After this, PM Modi expressed condolences and consoled the affected families in the Himachal Floods. He said that the central government will work with full force in the rehabilitation work in collaboration with the state government.
