The Government of India has allocated Rs 18,233 crore for over 10,750 product categories under the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) Scheme to boost trade. As per the latest information obtained as of March 31, 2025, total disbursements under the RoDTEP scheme have crossed Rs 57,976.78 crore.
RoDTEP scheme was originally introduced on January 1, 2021, but was later stooped on February 5, 2025. The current RoDTEP rates are in the range of 0.3-4.3 per cent in different categories. In this context, Dr. Prem Garg President of Indian Rice Exporters Federation in his interview with CNBC requested government to give 4% on RoDTEP instead of 0.9% for rice exporters. It is worth to be noted that The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) anticipates India’s total goods and services exports to reach $1 trillion in FY26 which is followed by strong growth in sectors like electronics, machinery, chemicals and pharmaceuticals among others.
This commendable move by government high lightens the mission of Govt. to boost export and the increase in export will boost the Govt. mission of Viksit Bharat 2047.
