On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day celebrations at Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced several remarkable decisions. One of them was the Atal Canteen Scheme, as she announced the launch of the Atal Canteen scheme for the poor and working class, under which nutritious food will be offered for just ₹5.
Atal Canteen Scheme: Major Initiative for the Working Class
The Atal Canteen Scheme is a major initiative launched by Delhi CM Rekha Gupta for the poor and working-class section. Under the Atal Canteen scheme, the poor and working class of Delhi will get nutritious food for just Rs 5. Around 100 canteens will be opened in nearly 700 slum areas of the capital, where quality food will be made available to the working force at affordable rates. The Delhi government has set a budget of Rs 100 crore for this scheme. The Chief Minister said that this scheme is a significant step towards improving the dignity of workers and their standard of living.
Several other announcements by the Delhi CM
Besides this, other announcements include providing a pucca house to every slum dweller, setting up a welfare board for gig workers and ensuring job security for sports talents, which have raised a new hope among the poor, workers and common citizens of the capital. Furthermore, in her speech, she cited the plight of the Yamuna river and vowed to revive it, adding that “Now the time has come that the Yamuna should be so clean that we can see the reflection of the sun in its water and offer prayers on its banks.” Moreover, she said that her government has been working since day one to clean the Yamuna, and it will be brought to world-class environmental standards.
