UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the officials that no incidents of stubble burning should occur in the current financial year 2025-26. Moreover, detailed guidelines have already been issued to curb stubble burning that has caused severe air pollution.
Furthermore, CM Yogi stated that stubble burning caused severe air pollution that could damage people’s health. Therefore, farmers will be made aware of several other methods for managing the crop residue left after harvesting. All district magistrates have been asked to continuously monitor incidents of stubble burning using satellites, and special precautions should be taken in districts where such incidents occur more frequently.
Stubble burning fine up to ₹15,000
As per directives, the stubble burning fine for farmers is ₹2,500 for land less than two acres, ₹5,000 for land between two and five acres, and ₹15,000 for land exceeding five acres. To ensure the success of this campaign, one nodal officer will be appointed for every 50 to 100 farmers. The primary responsibility of these nodal officers will be to prevent stubble burning. District magistrates have been instructed to identify areas where stubble burning is most common hotspots.
Several departments are in the initiative
Apart from this, district, tehsil, development block, and regional officials of the Revenue, Police, Agriculture, Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj departments will also monitor the harvest time, ensuring that incidents of crop residue burning can be reduced to zero. In a case , farmer is found burning crop residue, he will be stopped on the spot and a fixed amount of environmental compensation or stubble burning fine will be imposed on him. The Chief Minister has also appealed to all public representatives for cooperation in this campaign leading to through everyone’s joint efforts via which the goal of a clean environment and pollution-free state can be achieved.
