PM Modi is expected to release the 20th instalment of the PM Kisan scheme in July 2025. It is important to ensure that you meet all the eligibility criteria of this scheme, but if you are carrying out non-agricultural activities on your agricultural land, then you would not get the 20th instalment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
According to the guidelines, all landholding farmers’ families that have cultivable landholding in their names are eligible to get benefits under the scheme. But if you are using your land for non-agricultural activities, then you will not get the amount of Rs 2,000.
Furthermore, as mentioned in an FAQ on the PM Kisan’s website, “agriculture land being used for non-agricultural purposes will not be covered for benefit under the scheme.
About the PM Kisan Scheme
The PM Kisan scheme was launched in 2019 after being announced in the Interim Budget by then Finance Minister Piyush Goyal. It has become the world’s largest DBT scheme. The eligible farmers get the amount of Rs 2,000 every four months, aggregating Rs 6,000 annually in the following cycles — April-July, August-November, and December-March under this scheme.
Eligibility Criteria of the scheme
The eligibility criteria of the scheme include being a citizen of India, owning cultivable land, being a small farmer, not being a pensioner who receives Rs. 10, 000 or more per month, and not having filed income tax. Also, do not be an institutional landholder.
Those who are not eligible to get the 20th instalment of the PM Kisan scheme
Apart from being an institutional landholder, farmer families where any member is a current or former holder of a constitutional post (like President, Governor, etc.), current or former minister, MP, MLA, Mayor, or District Panchayat Chairperson, a government employee (Central/State/PSU), whether currently working or retired — Excluding Class IV / Group D staff and Multi-Tasking Staff including a retired person with a pension of more than Rs 10,000/ month, excluding Class IV / Group D pensioners and a person who paid income tax in the last assessment year. Moreover, a professional like a doctor, engineer, lawyer, CA, or architect who is registered and practising.
Apparently, the announcement of the 20th instalment of the PM Kisan scheme has yet to be made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Generally, the instalment comes in February, June and October.
